In-case you Mumbaiites are looking for a quick weekend getaway during this refreshing bit of winter, take a short road trip of 170 odd kilometres, and get ready to be amazed.
Hidden amidst the luscious hills of the Western Ghats in Maharashtra, Bhandardara is a camper’s paradise, with a gorgeous view of the serene Lake Arthur.
How to reach Bhandardara:
It’s approximately 170 kilometres from Mumbai City (via NH 6). You can refer to the below map:
- Before going to Bhandardara, making your bookings at the MTDC Resort. Their property has the best possible location, with a serene view of the lake. The dormitory is warm and comfortable, but needs plenty of care. The food is basic, but quite tasty…and no, alcohol is NOT available.
- Take your favourite snacks and liquids along for a night around the bon-fire beside the lake – MUST TRY!
- Remember to take plenty of warm clothes along. It does get quite chilly in the night.
- Definitely go for boating during sunsets, to hone your sunset photography skills.
